Data sources
Product data comes from Open Food Facts and is available under the Open Database License (ODbL). Individual contents are under the Database Contents License. We don't take any photos from there.
On top of that come products people typed in from the package. They're under the same licence. Until a second device enters the same values, they count as unverified.
General foods such as apples or cooked rice come from the German Nutrient Database (Bundeslebensmittelschlüssel, BLS) of the Max Rubner-Institut under the CC BY 4.0 licence. Source: Max Rubner-Institut (2025): Bundeslebensmittelschlüssel (BLS), Version 4.0 – Deutsche Nährstoffdatenbank. Karlsruhe. DOI: 10.25826/Data20251217-134202-0. We only use energy and eight nutrients from it and set entries such as “traces” to 0. This data isn't part of our download, you can get it from the publisher.
The whole database is available for free as a download (CSV, gzip), updated weekly.
All information comes without warranty. Values can be wrong or out of date and aren't meant for medical purposes. If in doubt, go by the package.
