AI only runs with an account and sync switched on, and only for what you send yourself. Depending on the time and availability, a feature uses one of the models listed with it. In operation we can switch within the list above.

Photo estimate

An AI model estimates the calories and protein of a meal from a photo.

  • Models: qwen3.8-flash, qwen3.8-max
  • Goes to the provider: The reduced photo of at most 1024 pixels and a fixed instruction.
  • Not sent: Name, email address, account ID, IP address, location and photo metadata. The photo itself can still reveal something about you. So show only your food.
  • With us: The photo stays in our queue for at most 15 minutes and is deleted right after the estimate. The result stays there for 10 minutes so that your device can fetch it. The most recent result may stay longer, until the next scan finishes.
  • Legal basis: Your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, where the photo allows conclusions about your health under Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR, and for the third country under Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR.
  • Switching off: Stop sending photos. Quick selection, barcode and manual entry work without AI. We cannot retrieve a photo already sent to the provider.

Estimate from text

You describe a meal in a few words, and an AI model estimates calories and protein from that.

  • Models: qwen3.8-flash, qwen3.7-plus
  • Goes to the provider: Your text of at most 300 characters.
  • Not sent: Name, email address, account ID, IP address. So only write what you ate, without names or illnesses.
  • With us: The text stays in our queue for at most 15 minutes and is deleted right after the estimate. We do not store it and do not write it to logs.
  • Legal basis: Your consent with each text you send under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, where the text allows conclusions about your health under Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR, and for the third country under Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR.
  • Switching off: Stop sending texts. We cannot get back a text already sent to the provider.

Recipe from text

You paste a recipe, and an AI model reads ingredients, amounts and portions and estimates the nutrition values.

  • Models: qwen3.8-flash, qwen3.7-plus
  • Goes to the provider: Your text of at most 2,000 characters.
  • Not sent: Name, email address, account ID, IP address.
  • With us: As with the estimate from text. Only what you then save in the recipe is stored: name, portions and ingredients with estimates.
  • Legal basis: As with the estimate from text.
  • Switching off: Stop pasting recipes. Creating recipes by hand works without AI.

AI meal plan

An AI model suggests a weekly plan. It is a suggestion, not dietary advice.

  • Models: qwen3.7-plus, qwen3.8-max, qwen3.8-flash
  • Goes to the provider: Your choices (diet, allergies, what you don't like, meals, cooking time, budget), your notes and your calorie range.
  • Not sent: Name, account, IP address and your answers to the safety questions.
  • With us: Your choices stay in our queue for at most 15 minutes and are deleted right after the plan is created. The finished plan stays there for 10 minutes so your device can fetch it. After that it lives on your device. If you agreed to full sync, it goes to your account encrypted, together with your choices.
  • Legal basis: Your express consent before each plan under Art. 9(2)(a) and Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR. Allergies can count as health data, and “halal” and “kosher” can suggest your faith.
  • Switching off: Do not create a plan. Without your tick nothing goes to the provider.

Questions to the knowledge articles

An AI model picks sentences from our articles for your question. The answer consists of passages from these articles word for word and is not advice.

  • Models: qwen3.8-flash, qwen3.7-plus
  • Goes to the provider: Your question and matching sentences from our articles.
  • Not sent: Name, account, IP address and your answers to the safety questions. Our server tries to recognise questions on illnesses, medication, pregnancy, on you personally or on eating disorders beforehand and answers them itself. This works with a word list that does not catch every wording. So do not write anything about yourself or your health.
  • With us: The question stays in our queue for at most 15 minutes and is deleted right after the answer. The answer stays there for 10 minutes. We write questions to no log and only count how many questions an account asks.
  • Legal basis: Your explicit consent by sending the question under Art. 9(2)(a) and Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR.
  • Switching off: Do not ask questions. You can read the articles without an account and without AI.

Third country and risks

There is no European Commission adequacy decision for China. No level of data protection comparable to the EU's applies there: state bodies may have wider access to data, and you may not be able to enforce your rights.

The provider's contract terms provide for the EU Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EU. We also base the transfer on your explicit consent under Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR.

What runs without AI

  • Plan, diary, timer and weight
  • Barcode scan and food search
  • Nutrition photos: text recognition runs on your device, and the photo goes neither to us nor to our AI provider
  • The check of your safety answers, which runs on your device
  • Reading the knowledge articles

Withdrawal and your rights

You withdraw by no longer sending anything to the AI. This applies to the future. We cannot retrieve what has already been sent to the provider.

Your other rights and our contact details are in the privacy policy.

Terms of use of our AI

  • Results from the AI are suggestions and estimates without guarantee. Check them before you use them. They are no basis for medical decisions.
  • The AI does not replace medical advice or dietary advice.
  • Only send what belongs to the feature: with photos only your food, no faces, addresses, receipts or documents.
  • If you stated during setup that you are under 18 or have an eating disorder, the app offers you no plan and no questions.
  • Every feature has daily limits, can be busy and can be paused by us.

Otherwise the terms of use and the privacy policy apply.

Changes

If we change the provider or the region, we change this page and the date above.
